I grew up in a family restaurant. Mom handled the day-to-day operations—the bookkeeping the cooking the cleaning—so she relished any rare opportunity to escape from making something from scratch for us kids. Although our lunches were a testament to Mom’s dedication—homemade sandwiches fresh-cut fruits and vegetables—she always tucked in a packaged treat.
These treats were also a welcome distraction for us because it meant we could have something fun to eat. As a mother I now know how much these treats are loved by my children but having something I can grab and pack every now and then is something I love too.
