Discarmier: I have been asked several times about the Seychelles and whether it is really expensive or not. My answer is that it's expensive, but as you asked (via IG poll vote), here are some tips that will help you have a heavenly Seychelles vacation without breaking the bank.

Visit out of season
Shoulder season prices are lower than peak season prices, so traveling in April, May, October, or November can save you money.

Try to find cheap accommodation
Avoid luxury resorts and stay in guest houses, self-catering apartments or small family hotels. Most of the time, these options are much cheaper and give you a more local experience.

Use public transportation
Use the public bus system to get around the main island. It's an inexpensive way to get around. Taxis can be expensive, so consider sharing rides with other travelers or using ride-sharing services.

Stay on the main island (Mahé)
Mahé is the main island of Seychelles. I would recommend staying here so you can interact with the locals, enjoy the beautiful beaches, restaurants and other attractions, as well as island hop to the other smaller islands that make up the Seychelles.

Book tours and activities locally
Wait until you are in Seychelles to book tours directly with local operators, rather than doing so in advance through travel agencies. This can lead to lower prices and more flexibility.

PS: There are many tips that will not all find their place here. This and much more will be on my blog. Be sure to look out for a comprehensive guide this Friday. [LINK IN BIO]
