There are so many delicious desserts in France that what was supposed to be a top 30 of the best French desserts ended up being a list of 40. Less than that is impossible.

Actually the list could have been much longer with many more great desserts. And there is so much variety that there is definitely something for everyone!
This isn't a dessert per se which is why it's not higher on the list but it certainly deserves a mention. Café gourmand is a concept that became popular in France in the late 90s and early 2000s.
They are basically small portions of different desserts (usually three) together with an espresso. Usually the three portions are crème brûlée mousse au chocolat (more on these two later) and a pastry.
