Despite its name Torta Alemã which means “German cake” actually has little to do with Germany and its cuisine. As far as we know it is simply the name given to it by the cake’s creator Sílvia Leite to commemorate her beloved times traveling through Europe but otherwise it is a 100% Brazilian cake that originally comes from São Paulo.
