You are what you eat – Listen to your body

Tracy Kaler is an avid home cook who lives to eat. As a freelance journalist she has been writing stories about food and drink for over a decade.

Tracy’s life has revolved around food for as long as she can remember. A self-taught chef she opened The New Southern Cook cookbook in 1996 starting with one recipe that would lead to many others she never looked back on. Curated by chef and historian John Martin Taylor—a parting gift when she left her Pennsylvania roots to emigrate to the South—it would shape her lifelong affinity for food and wine. Since then she’s cooked everything from regional classics to Italian classics to the comforting dishes she ate as a child. Because her passion for the culinary world is tied to the history place and people of each dish and drink Tracy often writes at the intersection of travel and gastronomy. She’s written profiles of acclaimed chefs and winemakers for Barron’s Penta chronicled the success story of a Jamaican chef for the Houston Chronicle and chronicled destination restaurants in the Southeast for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Tracy is the author of NEW YORK: 48 Hours published by National Geographic. She curated the restaurants bars and shops in this guide to New York City. In addition to her culinary stories she writes about places interior design and architecture.
