John and I have developed quite the fondness for homemade margaritas over the years. It’s no wonder since we make Mexican food for dinner more often than we do laundry—which is saying something since we’re pretty clean freaks—and margaritas always seem to be our go-to drink. While we’ve mostly stuck to traditional flavors I couldn’t shake the idea of making a watermelon margarita this summer so we headed out to the porch one recent evening to experiment.

As always when you do something "risque" like make cocktails on your porch someone notices. The neighbor's grandkids happened to be in town and decided to go "trick or treating" for healthy snacks during the off-season and ended up on our porch… with the booze. Us big bottles of tequila and triple sec and two innocent children. Quickly hide the evidence!
John quickly hid the bottles before they could ask "Hey mister what's that?!" while I distracted them by asking what their dog's name was. For the record I don't remember the dog's name but I did successfully divert their attention from the margarita magician shuffling bottles behind his curtain. Potentially awkward disaster averted. Phew.
I happily gave the kids a banana almond flour muffin so they wouldn't go home empty handed. Once they were gone we got back to work.
