The Ugly Truth About Coffee's Effects on Your Body
Serious Mealtimes/Sarah Maiden
I am not a morning person. Despite working the opening shifts at coffee shops for most of my 20s with just enough time to brush my teeth and throw on some clothes before my usual 6am shift being a barista was a constant battle against my natural state. I am a morning grouch who can’t be bothered to get out of bed until I’ve hit the snooze button a thousand times. Once I do wake up I usually move like a snail to get my day started.
A slow start in the morning also means that I often pour myself a mug of coffee and forget about it which I’m sure has happened to all of us. Maybe you get a phone call or a child needs something. Or maybe you just walk into a room put your mug down forget about it and walk away only to find your cup is ice cold hours later.
