What is RCS? (And how it will change text messaging forever)

Have you ever texted a friend a photo and it not only took forever to send, but when your friend finally receives it, it's a blurry mess? Well, a lot of it has to do with the fact that if you use text messaging – not iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc. but actually text messaging – you're using a system that hasn't really changed. since the 90s.

Well, with Google's announcement earlier this year that they would help bring a new service called RCS to Android devices, that's finally about to change.
