SUMMARY
-The more your phone is exposed to water, the more water will penetrate inside the case and damage internal components.
-If the power is left on, the phone may short circuit, further damaging the internal mechanisms.
-If you can remove the battery, do so immediately. Removing the power supply will help prevent the phone from burning out.
-Remove all covers and plugs covering the charging port, headphone port or any space or location on the phone. These can trap moisture inside the phone or become damaged themselves.
-Avoid using paper as particles may break loose and clog the phone's ports.
-The heat produced by a hairdryer can cause significant damage to your phone's internal components, and the vaporization of moisture inside the phone may simply spread it further.
-Shaking your phone can remove a lot of those moisture droplets stuck inside the phone.
-Put the phone in a plastic bag and suck out the air with a vacuum cleaner or shop vac.
-Uncooked rice is naturally absorbent and water can flow directly from the phone and into the rice. Put the phone and all its parts in a bowl or pot of rice and leave it there for at least 48 hours.
-Try dipping your phone in a circuit-safe cleaner or pure alcohol, which will absorb moisture, clean off any impurities, and eventually evaporate without leaving a conductive residue.
-Don't keep the phone in a rice pot next to the sink or washing machine, for example, as accidents can happen.
-It is very, very important to let your phone dry for at least 2 days.
-You may get your warranty from a third-party provider, such as Asurion or SquareTrade. They can cover accidental spills or submersion.
-Once you are sure your phone is dry, you can plug it back in and try turning it on. If it lights up, you're in business.
