WhatsApp changes number without losing chats
In this video I will show you how to change your WhatsApp number without losing any of your chats.
It's nice that WhatsApp doesn't need access to your old number to do this transfer, but you do need to have access to your new phone number, because WhatsApp will send you a confirmation PIN to confirm your new number.
Once your new phone number is linked to your WhatsApp account, make a Chat backup by going to:
Settings – Chats – Chat Backup – Back Up Now
Once your chat is backed up and linked to your new number and iCloud account, you will need to use the same iCloud account to sign in to your new device, open WhatsApp, confirm your new number (via the verification code), and you will be able to recover all your WhatsApp chats without losing any of them.
