Giada De Laurentiss is one of America’s most recognized celebrity chefs with a two-decade stint on the Food Network and a string of New York Times bestsellers to her name. She’s best known for her Italian recipes (a nod to her heritage—she was born in Rome) so you might think her ideal last meal would be a big bowl of pasta (it’s a pantry staple for her after all) or maybe a plate heaped with cannoli. Not so.

Laurentiis has revealed that her dream “last supper” dish is actually a cookie found at one of New York’s most famous bakeries. We’re talking about Levain Bakery which has made a name for itself with its delicious treats most notably its iconic cookies since opening its first store on West 74th Street in 1995. It’s since grown to 14 more locations now spanning New York City and beyond.

Laurentiis is just one of many celebrity fans who have confessed their love for Levain's cookies (Blake Lively and Andy Cohen are among them). The super-thick treats come in four basic flavors and measure about 1 inch tall by 4 inches wide weighing in at 6 ounces each — in other words they're huge. Giada's favorite cookie? The decadent dark chocolate chocolate chip (yes that's "chocolate" in there twice) which Levain himself describes as "The ultimate chocolate chip cookie."

Giada De Laurentiis declares her love for the sweet treat — which she likes to get from the OG branch of Levain Bakery — on her website. Giadzy writes "This little French bakery on the Upper West Side is easy to miss but trust me it's worth it for the giant dark chocolate chip cookies. If I had to choose my last meal these would be it." She's also given them a shout-out in her column Giada's Obsessions where she references Levain's 2023 opening in Los Angeles: "These are my favorite cookies EVER. I can't tell you how excited I was when they opened a bakery in LA. I literally have them in my freezer all the time."
